Dave Sliker was one of the first leaders at the International House of Prayer I connected with when I first moved to Kansas City. I was taking one of his summer classes and we had a few opportunities to chat after his class sessions. In all honesty, I owe Dave alot since he was one of the first leaders to help my wife and I connect to all that was going on at IHOP-KC. That was about 3.5 years ago, and I had the privilege of photographing the Sliker family this past December for a quick indoor session. The bitter cold weather prevented us from going outdoors so I had them come in just before the Panke’s session (see previous post)…..

Benji and Lauren are the founders of Exodus Cry, a non-profit ministry and organization dedicated to combatting modern day slavery including human trafficking and sex-slavery. About a year ago I volunteered some time to help get Benji and Lauren’s ministry infrastructure up and running. We spent alot of hours working together over a brief 3-4 months of working together. Eventually my assignment was up and I moved on but still remained friends with the Nolot’s. Now they have a son, Judah….

its been cold in KC….20s and 30s cold…the kind of cold that hurts your face when you walk to the car….so i thought I’d post a self-portrait from a trip to Orange County, CA back in 2008 to remind us all of warmer times…

Well, my new photography website www.StevenMichaelPhoto.com has been a dilema in progress in so many ways. Â However Im so pleased to finally launch a total re-design live with completely updated work from 2008/09. Â [insert intense dramatic epic music] Â And now for the compliment to my new website – my photoblog…yes thats right, why not stop with one website when you can have two? Â In case you’re unfamiliar with “blogs,” let me explain….
My website will mostly be static, meaning it will display mostly the same content (pictures and such) for months at a time. Â However my photoblog will be a much more dynamic presentation of recent and current work…in this case I plan to update it several times a month, potentially even weekly to showcase snapshots of my most fresh and recent work.
So, since I have much to offer from 2008, I am aiming to post one wedding or portrait session from 2008 over the next few months! Â so scan your boarding pass, fasten your seatbelts because the steven michael photoblog is taking off!
