I met Katie back in spring of 09 when I visited the IHOP-KC mom ministry gathering to talk about family photo sessions. We spent all summer talking about an early fall session and waiting until her little guy could sit up on his own. Finally the time came around and we had a great day in the park and on the bike trails…..

Hot sunny day in Leawood, Kansas. Beautiful day for a wedding. Great couple! Enjoyed the free Starbucks (Anna is a barista) during our consults and planning meetings leading up to the big day! One of the best backlit ceremonies I’ve ever photographed….enjoy……

This was a special session. My wife and I went to high school with Rigina (BHS class of ‘99) and Rigina is almost practically responsible for my wife and I getting to know each other. Its been a long ten years…we’re all married and have kids and stuff now. So on a recent trip back to MD we reconnected with Rigina and did a short session at Rigina’s place after a sweet breakfast and catch-up….

I’ve known Melanie (Smith) Jones for over five years now…in fact I even managed her hair salon Urban Style Lab in downtown Washington DC for about a year before I moved to Kansas City. We’ve stayed in contact via Facebook and she asked that I photograph her daughter Stella on a recent visit back to MD. We did the session around Church St in the NorthWest part of DC. What a beautiful sidestreet and the vintage bike was the perfect touch……

connected with Diane via former wedding client Kaleb & Reagan. its now almost 10 months later and we landed a late summer session. Dad works over at Sprint Headquaters in Leawood so we tried out the grounds of the complex for our locatoin. Turns out its not a concrete jungle. In fact, Sprint has built in quite a bit of green space including waterfalls, creeks, prarie grass fields, and some recreational fields. Anyhow, after several rain-outs we finally made it happen…

So I had to set up a studio to take a few make-up headshots for IHOP-KC Staff Leadership. I only had about 5′ of real-estate to work with (from camera to background) in the back of the marketing office, and only about 2 mins for each person’s shot. Easy solution: shoot thru umbrella, foam board reflector, clamps, and gray paper background. Here’s the set up and two examples……

While in NC my oldest sister slipped away with her 6 month old son for a little session by her big bro (thats would be me)! This was a very special photo session because her husband was being deployed to Iraq days after our beach vacation and he was unable to be with us in NC due to deployment preparation back home in Maryland. Jessica surprised him with an album of these prints to take with him to Iraq…..
